The calculator was developed for, and has been tested with an accuracy of +-7mm, on patients with characteristics that fall within certain boundaries (see Valid Values).
Data that is entered that is a small amount beyond what is tested will trigger a warning message, which is simply to alert users that the accuracy of the prediction is unknown. To Submit and retrieve a calculation anyway, simply press the Submit button a second time.
For data that is significantly beyond what is tested (or incorrect data) an error will be triggered, preventing a calculation from being obtained.
Some specifics include: The intended age range is for patients over 21 and under 100 years of age. Patients between 18 and 20 (inclusive) can still have calculations made with a warning.
The inter greater trochanter measurement is the distance between the lateral most projection of the left and right Greater Trochanters, as measured in the coronal plane
The pelvic depth measurement is the distance between two parallel reference lines defined by:
1. The most anterior projections of the right and left pubic tubercles and
2. The most posterior projection of the Posterior Superior Iliac Spines.
Distance recorded in the sagittal plane.
To assist the user in making valid calculations, user inputs are checked against anthropmetric data.
