Data Engineering and Knowledge Management group

focussing on

Global Data Integration and Semantic Extraction

The size and complexity of data in this world have grown substantially, especially with the new era of internet for social interactions and networking.

Moreover, the availability of web information data, spatial data (map, geographical locations), remote sensing data, simulation data, scientific data, etc have generated a large and complex collection of data sets.

Most industries these days have to rely on the availability of data from many different sources and the ability to consolidate information that come in different formats and structures.

We are now living in an extremely data-rich environment, and an effective way to make use of this large data collection will be one of the biggest challenges in the world of information technology.

Associate Professor Wenny Rahayu is leading the group that deals with the the ability to interpret, consolidate, and extract knowledge from this huge collection of data sets

Current Research Projects include:

  • Collaborative Decision Support Systems in Multi-Displinary Domains including Aviation, Transportation, and Health Industry
  • XML Global Information Integration
  • XML Spatial Temporal Databases
  • Ontology Extraction, Knowledge Management, and Privacy issues in Health Informatics
